UCLA rolls over Hawaii in women's soccer, 6-0

Advertiser Staff

Sophomore All-American Lauren Cheney tied a school record with four goals as the No. 6 UCLA blitzed Hawai'i, 6-0, today in a non-conference women's soccer match at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus.

Caitlyn Mac Kechnie and Danesha Adams also scored for the Bruins (4-1-2).

The Rainbow Wahine fell to 5-2-1 after giving up the most goals since a 7-0 loss to Brigham Young in 1998.

According to a UH release, the Rainbow Wahine played without three starters — senior midfielder Jessica Domingo, junior defender Tehane Higa and sophomore forward Ambree Ako. No reason was given for their absence.

Cheney, who had four goals coming into the match, scored in the 10th minute on through ball from Christina DiMartino. Less than two minutes later, Cheney left-footed a shot into the far post after receiving a ball from Kylie Wright as the Bruins took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
