CFB: ASU QB apologizes for swearing in live radio

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State quarterback Rudy Carpenter apologized today for swearing during a live radio interview after the Sun Devils' victory over Oregon State.

"You guys heard the interview on the radio," Carpenter told reporters at his weekly campus news conference. "I just want to apologize for that. I really did not mean to do that. I really do apologize. I'm sorry. I won't do that again."

Carpenter directed his apology to ASU play-by-play man Tim Healey, who attended the news conference.

"It happens," Healey told Carpenter, a junior from Westlake, Calif. "Don't worry about it. No problem."

Carpenter's remarks came during a live on-field interview on ASU's flagship station, KTAR-AM, after Arizona State rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat the Beavers 44-32 on Saturday. One day after the victory, the Sun Devils moved into The Associated Press Top 25 poll at No. 23.

The interview was posted on YouTube, and as of Monday afternoon the audio clip had been played more than 1,100 times.
