UH's Houston named WAC Player of the Week

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i junior Jamie Houston is the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. It is the fourth time the Rainbow Wahine hitter has earned the honor. She is the first UH player to win it this season.

Houston, from Huntsville, Ala., came up big on the road, leading Hawai'i in kills with 22 at Louisiana Tech and 29 at No. 25 New Mexico State. She also had four blocks in each match. Against the Lady Techsters in Ruston, she put away the final five points.

Houston is averaging 5.04 kills, 2.42 digs and 0.79 blocks per game. She has 1,230 career kills and needs two more to move into the school's Top 10 .
