Child playing with lighter started Nanakuli fire

Advertiser Staff

A child playing with a cigarette lighter started yesterday's fire that caused $310,000 damage to a wooden two-story Nanakuli home at 87-1594 Farrington Highway, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Terry Seelig said today.

The fire started in an upstairs bedroom closet area, said Seelig.

The Fire Department advises parents to properly store matches and lighters and to educate their children about the dangers of playing with matches and lighters they might see adults using.
