Health center funds released

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $468,540 to improve the air-conditioning system at the Leeward Health Center in Pearl City.

The project will include replacing chilled water fan coils, air-handling units and control valves tied to the building's main air-conditioning system, which was installed in 1976. Construction at the facility, located on Fourth Street, is scheduled to begin in January 2008 and be completed in August 2008.

"Upgrades to the Leeward Health Center's air-conditioning system will allow the building to be more energy efficient and create a healthier and safer environment for the center's patients, visitors and staff," said Lingle.
