Palolo water main break shuts part of Hardesty Street

Advertiser Staff

A Board of Water Supply trouble-shooting crew is working to repair an 8-inch water main break that has left 15 homes in Palolo without service this morning.

The break was reported around 5:30 a.m. at 3408 Hardesty St.

Hardesty Street has been closed between 8th and 9th avenues, said Devon Nekoba, spokesman for the Board of Water Supply.

It is not known yet how long it will take to repair the main, Nekoba said.

Andrew Uehara, left, and Eric Washiashi look at a sinkhole that opened up in front of their home on Hardesty Street in Palolo Valley today. Witnesses said a water main break caused water to shoot up nearly two telephone poles high. Gravel rained down on nearby homes and damaged Washiashi's car.
