Daycare costs in Honolulu less than national average

The average daily rate for adult daycare in Honolulu is lower than the national average, according to a survey done for the MetLife Mature Market Institute.

The study found the average daily rate in Honolulu was $58 a day, or the same as in Little Rock, Ark., and Louisville, Ky.

That compared with the average national daily rate of $61.

The highest rate was in the state of Vermont at $130 daily, while the lowest was in Montgomery, Ala., at $21.

When it came to pay, MetLife sad the average hourly rate paid home healthcare aides was $23 an hour here. That compared with the national rate of $19.

The average Honolulu rate for a homemaker/companion was $20. Nationally the average was $18.
