Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i senior Chantelle Wilder was named Western Athletic Conference women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, following her victory at the Big Wave Invitational Saturday at Kāne'ohe Klipper.

Wilder captured her third individual title of the season, in as many meets. Her time of 14:34 at the 4-kilometer Big Wave beat Brigham Young's Cecily Lemmon by five seconds. The Cougars won the meet, sweeping second- through sixth place. The Rainbow Wahine finished third, behind San Diego State.

Wilder also won the Big Wave last year and has seven championships in her career.

The Rainbow Wahine make their first Mainland trip this week, competing at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational Saturday in Salem, Ore.
