Baseball: Padres Milton Bradley has knee surgery

Advertiser Staff

MILWAUKEE — San Diego Padres outfielder Milton Bradley had surgery today in Cincinnati to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

During surgery, doctors also found Bradley had torn his meniscus and fixed it, the team said.

Bradley was hurt when his own manager spun him to the ground while trying to keep him from going after umpire Mike Winters during an eighth-inning confrontation in Sunday's 7-3 loss to Colorado.

The Padres and Bradley later charged that Winters baited Bradley into the confrontation and used a profanity aimed at him. Winters was suspended for the rest of the season on Wednesday.

Bradley finished the year hitting .306 with 13 homers and 37 RBIs in 61 games with Oakland and San Diego.
