Warriors ranked No. 15 by USA Today, No. 16 by AP

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i football team, which beat Idaho 48-20 yesterday, is ranked No. 15 in the USA Today poll and No. 16 in the Associated Press poll.

The polls were released today following a wild Saturday in college football in which four Top-10 teams were upset by unranked teams.

The top two teams — USC and LSU — survived upsets but No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Florida, No. 7 Texas and No. 10 Rutgers all were upset losers.

No. 5 West Virginia lost Friday to South Florida, which made a major leap into the Top 10 in both polls.

In the AP poll, Louisiana State overtook Southern California for the top spot. In the USA Today poll, USC remains No. 1.

USC struggled on the road to defeat Washington, 27-24. The Trojans overcame injuries, dropped passes, 16 penalties, three turnovers, one of which went for a touchdown, and a blocked punt that set up a score.

California, which needed a fumble on the goal line in the closing seconds as well as three other turnovers to beat Oregon, 31-24, moved up to No. 3 in both polls.
