H-1 Airport Viaduct lanes closed today for repairs

Advertiser Staff

HONOLULU — The state Department of Transportation advises O'ahu motorists that the three right-most lanes of the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct will be closed in the westbound direction from the Ke'ehi Interchange to the Kamehameha Highway/Aloha Stadium/Arizona Memorial off-ramp from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. today for concrete pavement repair work. All on- and off-ramps will remain open during this time.

The scheduled roadwork is part of a $9.1 million project to repair potholes along a nearly three-mile stretch of the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct between Middle and Valkenburgh streets. Crews will use a fast-forming concrete to fill in potholes. To minimize vibrations along the viaduct while the concrete cures, the speed limit near the repair area will be reduced to 15 mph. Special duty police officers will be on-site to enforce this speed limit.

Westbound motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area, to allow for extra travel time or to use alternate routes including the H-201 Moanalua Freeway or Nimitz Highway.
