Kahuku's Van Ness fans 12 in 10-7 win over Radford

Steven Van Ness scattered four hits and struck out 12 batters to lead host Kahuku past Radford, 10-7, yesterday in a rescheduled O'ahu Interscholastic Association baseball game.

Van Ness also drove in three runs for the Red Raiders (4-2), which pounded out 11 hits against the Rams (4-2).

Kahuku teammate Jordan Kamae batted 3 for 3 with a triple. The game was originally slated for today.

SWIMMING

PUNAHOU'S CHOW EARNS SPOT ON U.S. YOUTH TEAM

Punahou swimmer Randal Chow has been selected to participate in the People to People Sports Ambassador Program.

This summer, Chow will train in Austria and compete for the United States in the Youth Friendship Games. As part of the program, Chow will explore the country with teammates.

To participate in the program, Chow had to submit references and participate in an interview with program coaches. The program was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956.

BYUH'S VAN DYKE AIMING FOR TOP 25 FINISH

Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Brandon Van Dyke shot a 2-over-par 146 and was tied for 21st place yesterday in the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz.

BYUH (610) was 16th out of 19 teams going into today's final round at the Palm Valley Golf Club. Central Oklahoma (564) leads the tourney, and Jeff Dagg of Wayland Baptist leads the individual standings at 8-under 136.

Other scoring Seasider golfers were: Kyle Kunioka (t-51st, 150), Brett Puterbaugh (t-87th, 157) and Derek Hall (t-87th, 157).

LE JARDIN TO HOST EVENT AT MID-PACIFIC CC

Le Jardin Academy's Parent Faculty Association will host its annual golf tournament on May 5 at Mid-Pacific Country Club.

Proceeds go towards Le Jardin scholarships, professional development and the school's capital campaign.

Prizes include a 2008 Land Rover, Porsche, Jaguar and $10,000.
