Lingle nominates 96 to state boards, commissions

HONOLULU – Gov. Linda Lingle has nominated an additional 96 individuals from around the state to serve on various state boards and commissions. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.

This latest list includes nominees for the University of Hawai'i Board of Regents, Hawai'i Tourism Authority, State Council on Mental Health, Environmental Council, Hawai'i Community Development Authority, Housing Finance and Development Corporation, State Council on Developmental Disabilities, Small Business Regulatory Review Board, Teacher Standards Board, State Board of Nursing, Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs, Hawai'i Commission for National and Community Service and Health Coordinating Council, among others. A list of the nominees is attached.

The 96 nominees are in addition to the 195 individuals the Governor previously appointed or reappointed this legislative session.

Nearly 1,300 people statewide serve on more than 160 boards and commissions that were established by the state constitution, state statutes, or executive orders. Boards and commissions are designed to get input from a broad cross section of Hawai'i residents.
