Maui High School grad wins college gymnastics title

Maui High School graduate and University of Wisconsin-Stout freshman Naomi DeLara won the balance beam at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championships on Saturday in Cortland, N.Y.

DeLara, of Kahului, had a score of 9.80 in the final to break her own school record of 9.70 and become UW-Stout's first individual national champion.

DeLara is seeded as the first alternate on the balance beam at this weekend's NCAA North Central Region at the University of Minnesota.
