Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i golfers Dean Wilson and Parker McLachlin both shot under par today with Wilson among the leaders in the Houston Open in Humble, Texas.

Wilson, a former Kane'ohe resident and Castle High alum, shot 5-under 67 and is tied for fifth. He is four shots back of leader Adam Scott, who shot a course-record 63 today at the Tournament Course at Redstone.

McLachlin, a former Honolulu resident and Punahou School alum, shot 1-under and is tied for 37th place.

Wilson opened with successive birdies en route to a 3-under 33 on the front.

He had another three birdies on the back before recording his only bogey on the 18th for a back-nine score of 34.

McLachlin started on the back nine and recorded two birdies to make the turn at 2-under 34.

He birdied the par-4 No. 3 hole (his 12th) to go 3-under. But successive bogeys on his 14th and 15th holes put him back at 1-under.
