Movie openings

  • "Leatherheads": This movie is set at a time when pro football was a poor cousin to the college game. Period costumes, jazzy music, 1920s slang, all of which combine for a nice re-creation of the feel of the era. George Clooney stars.   • "Nim's Island": A family-fare adventure comedy, stars Abigail Breslin as an 11-year-old girl who lives on a small South Pacific island with in a kind of girl version of Robinson Crusoe.   • "Shine a Light": Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones concert film includes footage of Mick Jagger thrusting and flailing about in his trademark glory to "Sympathy for the Devil," which calls to mind the violence that erupted as the Stones played that very song nearly 40 years ago at the Altamont Speedway. Opens tomorrow at Ward Stadium 16.

  • "Under the Same Moon": This movie deals with the frequently debated issue of illegal immigration. Opens tomorrow at Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theatres, Kahala Mall. (PG-13)
