Drinking in public not only landed a 33-year-old 'Ewa Beach man in jail but possibly back to prison.

Michael Lane Centers, who claims to reside at a Hailipo Street address, was arrested today at 12:15 a.m. after police spotted him at One'ula Beach Park with a bottle of beer. Police then learned that Centers is an escapee from the Laumaka Work Furlough Program.

Centers failed to return to the facility in 2006. He was being held last night at the main police station cellblock for state corrections officials.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Centers has nine convictions.
