KAUA'I GARDEN DOCENTS — The National Tropical Botanical Garden will provide free docent training for its south-shore site from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning April 30 through June 18. Docents lead garden tours and receive training in botany, propagation, conservation, nursery management, customer service. Annual commitment of 72 volunteer hours required. MONK SEAL COUNT — Join NOAA Fisheries for semi-annual Hawaiian Monk Seal Count from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 19 on main islands. Contact Nicole Davis at 292-2372 or nicole.davis@noaa.gov.

WAHIAWA ALOHA 'AINA — The 39th Aloha 'Aina Recycling Community Cleanup Project will allow residents to dispose of bulky items and recyclables from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at Leilehua High School. Accepting HI-5¢ containers, eyeglasses, hearing aids, printer cartridges, usable lumber, clothing, scrap metal, auto parts, cooking oil, lawn mowers, newspapers, cardboard, fishing nets and more. Proceeds will benefit Waipahu Complex schools. Volunteers, vans and pickup trucks needed. For curbside pickup, call Richard Townsend at 741-2148 or Rene Mansho at 306-1876.
