You can be in two places at the same time — sort of. That's what singer and new radio personality Junior Kekuewa Jr. is doing, scampering between two radio stations (which happen to be sister stations in separate cubicles).

Between 5:30 and 10 a.m., Kekuewa shares airtime with Lanai Tabura on Lanai's Morning Madness, on Island 98.5 FM. But he also scoots over to Rory Wild's Wakeup Crew on HOT 93.9 FM, with breaks timed so that the listener who might be punching buttons in the car won't have a clue about the jaunts between studios.

"This had never been done before," said Wild, a radio veteran who has pulled off some radio stunts in his time. But this is no trick, no pre-recorded chit-chat — just a hop from one setting on the dial to another.

Then again, Kekuewa is accustomed to hopping — his variety show treks from one club to another. Details: www.jrkjr.com ...

THEATER NOTES: After somewhat of a lengthy absence, singer-actor Joey Caldarone is prepping for a stage return. He will be playing Conrad Birdie, the Elvis Presley-inspired figure, in Army Community Theatre's "Bye Bye Birdie," premiering May 8 at Richardson Theatre at Fort Shafter.

Caldarone (who played The Engineer in ACT's "Miss Saigon") is tweaking his busy schedule (he's an interior designer and realtor associate with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties) to accommodate rehearsals. Scott Rogers will direct, Katherine Jones is choreographing, and Keith Griffin will conduct the orchestra. ...

New York actor Richard Vida, currently touring in a national company of "The Drowsy Chaperone," will come to the Islands (he's a frequent visitor) to present a musical theater master class from 3 to 5 p.m. April 19 under sponsorship of Ballet Hawaii. The session, at Ballet Hawaii's headquarters in Dole Cannery, is designed for folks age 10 through adult who adore stage musicals and are eager to learn the "hows" of rehearsals — singing, dancing and directing. Cost is $15 for Ballet Hawaii students, $20 for the public. Call 521-8600 for details, with checks payable to Ballet Hawaii.

Vida has done workshops here before; his credits include "42nd Street" and "My One and Only" — and he danced in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. ...

AROUND TOWN: Melveen Leed has taken on Sunday Sunset shows at the Elks Club in Waikiki, appearing with Tito Berinobis and Kiki Hugho from 5 to 8 p.m. weekly. Among the recent "names" there: Rodney Cazimero, Boyce Rodrigues, Eddie Kamae, O'Brian Eselu, Kealoha Kalama, Gary Aiko, Jay Larrin, Alan Yamamoto, Imai and Mokulani Young, Tony Bee, Augie Rey, Pat Sylva, Iva Kinimaka, Keith and Carmen Haugen and Milton I. ...
