A police investigation into an alleged sex assault of a 9-year-old girl at the state's Pai'olu Kaiaulu homeless shelter on March 24 found insufficient evidence to support a criminal complaint.

"The case is closed, there's no arrest," Honolulu Police Department media specialist Michelle Yu said yesterday.
