Left-turn signal near Hawaii Kai center to be activated

Advertiser Staff

The city will activate tomorrow a left-turn signal to enable motorists heading makai on Keahole Street to turn into the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, according to the city.

The left-turn signal will be activated Thursday at 10 a.m.

"This is a safety priority of Hawai'i Kai residents, given the number of near-misses involving motorists and pedestrians on this heavily traveled stretch of road," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann, in a news release. "We're pleased that the city was able to provide this improvement."

The cost of the project was $50,000. Work included cabling, a conduit, poles and pedestrian push buttons.
