Early Friday morning, about 1,000 Marines, with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment at Kane'ohe Bay, will conduct a conditioning hike through the local community from the Mokapu back gate of the base to Kailua Beach Park.

The march will take place at 3:15 a.m., the Corps said. The battalion is preparing for a deployment to Iraq. The Marines will return to the Marine Corps base after reaching Kailua Beach Park.

Marine Corps officials said they are are working closely with the Honolulu Police Department to coordinate the activity. Motorists are advised to be alert and drive with care.
