DIAMOND HEAD
Hearing on KCC's plans for $32M culinary school

Residents will have a chance to weigh in tonight (4/9) on a proposed $32 million culinary school planned by Kapi'olani Community College on the former Fort Ruger Cannon Club site on the slopes of Diamond Head.

The proposed Culinary Institute of the Pacific, which has been in the works for seven years, would include a 200-seat restaurant training facility, an amphitheater, classrooms, faculty offices and 119 parking stalls.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Kopiko Building, Room 209 at KCC at 4303 Diamond Head Road. KCC officials will discuss project details, expected impacts on the neighborhood and possible mitigation measures. Construction is slated to begin this year and finish in 2011.
