Meetings set on Ala Wai harbor parking

Advertiser Staff

The first of three public information meetings to gather input on a public parking plan for the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor will be held today.

The other meetings, also hosted by the Department of Land and Natural Resources' Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, will be April 16 and April 30.

All three meetings will be in the Jefferson Elementary School cafeteria, 324 Kapahulu Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m.

At the meeting, officials will seek suggestions from the public for management options to resolve parking issues at Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor.

Maintenance of the harbor parking area is paid for from boaters' fees.

Interested parties are invited to present ideas and discuss possible parking scenarios to resolve parking challenges documented for this area.

Suggestions for parking scenarios may be presented at the meetings, or may be mailed in advance to:

Clifford Inn, DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, 333 Queen St., Suite 300, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Suggestions may also be e-mailed to Clifford.G.Inn@hawaii.gov until Tuesday.

Results of these public meetings will be presented to the Board of Land and Natural Resources for consideration and possible adoption.

The meeting site is disability accessible. For special needs, including large print, taped materials and sign language interpreter, call Clifford Inn at 587-1972 at least one week prior to the date of the public meeting.
