KAHULUI
Pool closed to public for instructor training

The Kahului Pool is closed this week to accommodate American Red Cross water safety instructor training to certify county lifeguards to teach beginner swimming classes.

The pool also may have to close this weekend because of staff shortages, the county said.

For the public, the first series of one-hour learn-to-swim classes at the pool will begin Tuesday. Level I classes are for children uncomfortable putting their face in the water, and Level II classes are for beginners who can put their face in the water.

Register at Kahului Pool or call 270-7410.

For the latest public pool schedules, call the Maui County Pools Information Line at 270-8208.
