Trade wind weather expected this weekend

A high pressure area building to the north of the state will bring a breezy trade wind weather pattern for the next several days, the National Weather Service said.

Showers will generally favor windward and mauka areas while isolated showers may drift over to the leeward areas on the smaller islands.

The high overcast present for the past several days may be present today at times as well, forecasters said.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday: Scattered showers, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
