Unattended candle started Wahiawa fire

Advertiser Staff

An unattended candle started a fire today at 1100 Neal Ave. in Wahiawa which destroyed three bedrooms and a living room, Honolulu Fire Department officials said.

Investigators estimated damage at $110,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents, according to HFD spokesman Capt. Robert Main.

A family of five was displaced by the 11:12 a.m. fire, which was reported under control at 11:21 a.m., Main said.

The fire rendered the three-bedroom home uninhabitable, but did not destroy it, Main said.
