Advertiser Staff

Prosecutors tonight charged a 48-year-old Waimanalo man with misdemeanor abuse of a household member for allegedly hitting a man on the head with a baseball bat during an argument early yesterday.

Jerome Yelemia Kaapa was released after posting $2,000 bail.

The injured man, 29, was taken in critical condition to The Queen's Medical Center. His condition has improved to serious, police said.

Kaapa was arrested at 5 a.m. yesterday at his Kauholokahiki Street residence. His Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center record includes two convictions.
