Hawaii Pacific sweeps Chaminade in softball

Sherise Musquiz pitched a two-hitter as Hawai'i Pacific shut down Chaminade, 5-0, yesterday to complete a Pacific West Conference doubleheader sweep at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Musquiz struck out three, walked two and hit an RBI single.

Casey Sugihara, Nicole Kalakau and Jessica Adolph each had two hits for the Sea Warriors (32-5, 17-1 PacWest).

In the opener, Courtney Kessell scattered seven hits, struck out eight and walked none as HPU won, 5-1.

Kalakau and Laine Shikuma each had two hits and an RBI for the Sea Warriors.

Iwa Yamaguchi hit an RBI double for the Silverswords (9-28, 4-14).

HPU scored four runs in the top of the first on three hits and two errors, then added a run in the second on Kalakau's sacrifice fly to make it 5-0.

HILO, BYUH SPLIT

Amanda May pitched a two-hitter with two strikeouts and no walks as Hawai'i-Hilo beat Brigham Young-Hawaii, 7-1, yesterday to earn a split of a PacWest doubleheader at Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Jerica Faasua, Brittany Dock and Kanani Numata homered for the Vulcans (9-9, 8-8 PacWest).

In the opener, Bettye Doering pitched a five-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks as BYUH prevailed, 3-1.

Kahealani Alohikea-Betham had two hits and an RBI, and Katresha Veazie drove in two runs for the Seasiders (9-32, 6-18).

Paige Kurosawa drove in the Vulcans' lone run.
