Pair wins Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce awards

The Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce has named Peter Apo and Nake'u Joel Awai winners of this year's 'O'O Awards.

Apo is a founding member of the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association and is its director of culture and education. He also is a noted Native Hawaiian cultural expert, musician, poet, songwriter and businessman.

Awai is a fashion designer and owner of design firm Nake'u. He is being honored for being a role model to young Hawaiian and island designers.

Apo and Awai will be honored at a dinner April 25 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom. Proceeds will benefit scholarships and programs for Native Hawaiian youth, entrepreneurs and businesses.
