Honolulu CrimeStoppers today released surveillance photos of a man and woman suspected of working in tandem to steal purses from customers at Safeway's store at 1121 S. Beretania St.

On March 10, the male suspect started a conversation with a woman customer to distract her while his partner grabbed a the victim's purse from a shopping cart. The victim realized what occurred and confronted the female suspect, who gave up the purse.

Both suspects fled before security arrived. The incident occurred at 8:50 p.m.

On March 21, the suspects worked the same scheme and stole a purse at 5:30 p.m. Security videotape confirmed the pair were involved in the March 10 case, police said.

The male suspect is about 5 feet 7 and 165 pounds. His accomplice is 5 feet 4 and 125 pounds.
