About 30 National Junior Honor Society students from King Intermediate School went through Kane'ohe neighborhoods Tuesday to stencil storm drains with a message about not polluting.

The stencil includes the city's mascot, the o'opu, an island goby, and the message "Dump No Waste, Protect Our Waters ... For Life, e malama i ka wai ola."

The students were working with the city Department of Environmental Services in cooperation with the state Department of Education.

They also distributed information to residents about recycling, hazardous waste disposal, bulky item collection and anti-pollution tips.

State Reps. Ken Ito and Pono Chong were there to support the effort.

After their project, the students were treated to lunch at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor at Windward Mall.
