Advertiser Staff

It was far from a torrential downpour, but a new daily record for rainfall was set yesterday in Lihu'e.

The previous record amount of rain for April 17 was set in 1950 at 0.51 inches, the National Weather Service said.

As of yesterday afternoon, 0.54 inches or rain had fallen in Lihue, exceeding the old record by three one-hundredths of an inch.
