Weather: Trades due to return over the weekend

A high-pressure area building to the northeast of the state will bring the trade winds back to the Islands by the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

The return of the trades will result in a slight increase in clouds and rainfall over the windward slopes of most islands, forecasters said.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days on O'ahu:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Northeast wind between 3 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Sunday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
