Should be plenty of good surf to go around today

Advertiser Staff

It's one of those rare days on O'ahu when good surf can be found along almost any shoreline.

A storm-generated swell continues to drive surf of 8 to 10 feet along south-facing shores, resulting in a high surf advisory from the National Weather Service. The swell and surf are expected to hang around through the day today and gradually diminish starting tomorrow, forecasters said.

Elsewhere, surf along north-facing shores is on the rise and should hit 6 to 8 feet today, according to the forecast. West-facing shores will see surf of 4 to 8 feet, with locally higher sets. And east-facing shores get into the act with surf of 3to 5 feet expected throughout the day today.

A small northwest swell will build to moderate levels over the weekend, and then diminish. Another moderate northwest swell will arrive on Thursday. No other significant swells are expected.
