Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old man from Santa Ana, Calif. was pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital this afternoon, Kaua'i officials said.

The man, a United Airlines flight attendant, had been swimming with two co-workers at Kalapaki Beach. His co-workers lost sight of him and began searching for him.

They notified hotel security.

Upon returning to the beach, they saw that someone had brought the man ashore and was performing CPR. Firefighters from the Lihu'e station arrived and continued CPR on the victim.

Medics continued CPR en route to Wilcox Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
