Tree giveaway set for today in Manoa

Advertiser Staff

More than 1,000 trees will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis today in Manoa.

The event, from 8 a.m. to noon, is meant to encourage residents to make the urban environment a little greener.

The giveaway is sponsored by Malama o Manoa, and will be held at the Manoa Valley Park pavilion.

Trees to be given away include kukui nut, monkey pod, papaya, mango, mountain apple and more. Boy Scouts will on hand to help load trees.

Arborists will also be at the event to talk about how to take care of the trees.
