POLICE BEAT
California man dies after being pulled from sea

Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old man from Santa Ana, Calif., was pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital yesterday after being pulled from the waters off Kalapaki Beach on Kaua'i.

The man, a United Airlines flight attendant, had been swimming with two co-workers at Kalapaki Beach. His co-workers lost sight of him and began searching.

Unable to find him, they notified hotel security.

Upon returning to the beach, they saw that someone had brought their friend ashore and was performing CPR.

When firefighters from the Lihu'e station arrived, they continued CPR on the man. Medics continued CPR en route to Wilcox Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
