Two injured in single-car rollover near Red Hill

An 18-year-old man who was the passenger in a single-car accident has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition this morning, Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

The 29-year-old driver, also a man, was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said the two were driving on Moanalua Freeway just past the Red Hill onramp and toward the H-3 onramp when they struck the side of the dirt hill on the right side of Moanalua freeway shortly after midnight.

The Honolulu Fire Department' was called to extract one of the injured, who was pinned in the vehicle.

Police said speed and alcohol were involved. The car is a white 1997 Chevy four-door sedan.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but it is not known if the passenger was wearing his.
