Fabric and fun in store at Temari sale Saturday

Advertiser Staff

"Bolts of Fabric & Fun," a Temari-sponsored event featuring kimonos, textiles, garments, sewing supplies, rugs and more, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This Saturday at the Honpa Hongwanji Social Hall on Pali Highway.

Temari, the Center for Asian and Pacific Arts, is assembling an array of fabric and sewing gems — fibers, vintage wear, beads, buttons, threads — suited for crafters and homemakers with a creative mind.

There will be demonstrations, too — Ann Asakura will do fabric painting, Moana Eisele will demo fabric printing with ohe kapala (bamboo stamps).

The Hongwanji Women's Buddhist Assn. will offer homemade laulau.

Temari members (a list will be at the door) may preview and enter the sale early, from 8 to 9 a.m.

Information: 536-4566 or e-mail temaricenter@temari.com.
