WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD — A Hawai'i-based soldier faces arraignment on premeditated murder in the shooting death of an unarmed Iraqi last year.

Court-martial judge Col. Donna Wright is hearing motions from the prosecution and the defense regarding the case.

The accused is Sgt. 1st Class Trey Corrales, a platoon sergeant from San Antonio. His trial is set to begin Wednesday at Wheeler Army Airfield on O'ahu.

Besides premeditated murder, Corrales has been charged with wrongfully soliciting another soldier to shoot the Iraqi man after he fired the initial shots. A third charge alleges Corrales wrongfully impeded an investigation into the incident.

Government lawyers want Wright to stop the defense from presenting evidence related to post-traumatic stress disorder.
