Bishop Museum will host the first-ever "Grow Hawaiian Festival" Saturday.

The festival, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is in honor of Earth Day. Admission is free.

Weavers, dancers, kapa makers and other traditional Hawaiian crafters will join biologists, conservationists and horticulturists to help attendees understand the importance of preserving native plants and animals in Hawai'i. There will be lectures, demonstrations, hands-on activities and more.

The festival will also feature a guided tour of Bishop Museum's native plants.

Reusable grocery bags will be given away to the first 100 families.
