Pediatric convention expected to generate $33M in spending

Expect a lot of experts on child health on O'ahu next month for meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies at the Hawai'i Convention Center May 1–7.

The is event is expected to draw 7,000 participants that will translate to over $33 million in statewide spending and over $3.2 million in statewide tax revenue. The convention center's hotel partners will benefit with over 56,000 booked rooms, said Joe Davis, SMG general manager of the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The meeting is a partnership of four primary pediatric organizations and an Asian organization. The groups include the American Pediatric Society, the Society of Pediatric Research, the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Asian Society for Pediatric Research.

The annual meeting is the largest international meeting focusing on research in child health while providing a venue for interdisciplinary scientific interactions.
