The DIY movement now has its own magazine, Make It Mine, a treasure trove to guide a do-it-yourselfer through embellishments for garments, shoes, accessories and even items such as umbrellas and "personal shrines." Spring 2008 suggestions: Add buttons to a pair of espadrilles, make a belt of plaster washers, paint the back of an off-the-rack blazer, add grommets to a T-shirt.
