UH softball sweeps Santa Clara

The 24th-ranked University of Hawai'i softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader of Santa Clara yesterday in Santa Clara, Calif. Hawai'i won the first game, 9-3, and took the nightcap, 3-0.

Kate Robinson (14-4) earned the win with a complete game shutout in the second contest, giving up six hits, striking out three and walking none.

In the second game, Robinson went 3 for 4 at the plate and scored twice as UH jumped to a 4-0 lead after four innings and never trailed in the contest.

UH (33-14, 7-4 WAC) will face Fresno State in a three-game Western Athletic Conference series starting tomorrow.

HPU SWEEPS IN SOFTBALL

Hawai'i Pacific swept Chaminade in a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader yesterday in Kane'ohe. The Sea Warriors won the first game, 5-4, on a walk-off double by Kozy Toriano. HPU won the second game, 7-0.

UH-HILO BASEBALL FALLS

A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted San Jose State to a 3-2 victory over Hawai'i-Hilo in a non-conference baseball game yesterday in San Jose, Calif.

UH-HILO TOPS IN GOLF

Hawai'i Hilo's Zady Ari shot a final-round 73 for a three-round total of 222 and beat Grand Canyon's Terrence Daniels in a playoff to capture the PacWest men's golf title at Turtle Bay's Arnold Palmer Course yesterday. The Vulcans won the team title at 902.
