Waipahu man facing federal drug charges

Advertiser Staff

A Waipahu man arrested by police Thursday at an airport-area hotel on suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine is facing federal prosecution.

Lamar R. McMellon, 26, who gave a Kalae Street address at booking, was being held today at the main police station cellblock on a federal warrant issued Friday, charging him with unlawful use of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

He will be turned over to U.S. Marshals Service tomorrow.

McMellon was arrested at 3401 North Nimitz Hwy. Thursday at 3:45 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree meth trafficking and second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
