Jellyfish influx expected to peak tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

The latest box jellyfish influx has started today, but the peak of the influx isn't expected until tomorrow, said Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

"It's been very small this morning," Cheplic said. "Tomorrow should be the peak."

The influx is supposed to last through Wednesday.

This week's influx comes at a horrible time for surfers: Surf along south shores is expected to be at or near advisory levels by tomorrow. The south swell is expected to last through the middle of the week -- about the same time the influx ends.

Use caution is you're heading to the beach over the next few days, and if you're allergic to stings stay out of the water.
