Pearl City defends OIA baseball title

WAIPI'O — Kahana Neal struck out eight batters and the Chargers scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning as Pearl City defeated Kailua, 8-7 in eight innings, for the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Division baseball title tonight at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.

Pearl City (13-2) also won the OIA title last year. Tied at 5, the Chargers went ahead by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth. Kailua (12-3) closed the deficit to 8-7 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. But relief pitcher Bryson Nakamura struck out Rob DeMarsh to end the game.
