Ocean Safety officials have picked up more than 800 box jellyfish this morning in Waikiki as the peak of this month's influx is expected today.

More than 100 were discovered on the beach at Makaha and more than 25 at Pokai Bay along the Leeward Coast.

"It's now a large influx," said Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic. "Because of the jellyfish and the large surf we're asking everyone who goes into the ocean to be careful and check with the lifeguard first."

So far, no stings have been reported.

Surf was in the 3- to 6-foot range this morning in Waikiki and larger further out.

The latest south swell is expected to peak tonight or tomorrow morning and good surf should remain through Thursday when the high-surf advisory ends at 6 p.m.
