Big Island garden plans tree giveaway

The free Amy Greenwell Garden Arbor Day Tree Giveaway will be 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 1 on the Big Island.

Sponsored by Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry program, Amy Greenwell Garden will give away 500 native plants for home landscaping, many of which are

rare and endangered. There will be many different species to select from such as iliahi (sandalwood) or the State flower, mao hau hele.

The event is linked to a free Hawaii Healing Garden, which features lectures, tours, workshops, adults and childrenšs programs, a Healing Arts Fair, and cultural entertainment.
